A new tech publication, fresh off the servers, is out there. Yes. This one.

Hey, there! Nice of you to come by. I'm Kostas Farkonas and I've been reporting on technology, home entertainment, the Internet and digital culture for almost 30 years now. Yeah, I know. Hell of a long time, but a hell of a ride too.

It finally dawned on me that - while writing for several outlets it’s all well and good - the ideal way to deliver some of my best work is to start a publication that’s directly connected to people actively interested in the subject matter I happen to specialize in. Newsletters imply the kind of intent and focus that is largely lost on the Web these days. I’ve been missing that feeling of discussing a newsworthy subject in a “face to face” manner and Substack seems to be the right place to both offer and enjoy that.

This is how Turn On | Press Play came to be. It's a publication focused on what's happening in tech and home entertainment. If that sounds generic, it's because it is: everything from technologies and products to content and services falls under its umbrella. So a lot of things to report and comment on, which can be both a blessing and curse for journalists. Not for readers, though!

It's the various points where some or all of the above meet - sometimes to the benefit of consumers, sometimes not so much - that many of the most important developments in digital culture happen. Those are of special interest to this publication and will always be explored, along with what deserves attention among the numerous products and services competing in the tech and entertainment market today.

New issues of Turn On | Press Play will arrive at 15.00 EST/12.00 PST every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with a week-recapping and commenting one on Friday (the only exceptions being national holidays and 15 holiday days during the summer). Special issues are sent out whenever something really important is going down.
